Dr. Bruce Markovitz graduated from Penn State University in 1978. He continued on to attned the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and Lasalle   University where he graduated in 1983 with a Doctorate of Optometry and Masters in Healthcare Administration. After serving four years in the Army Medical  Service Corp, he continued his studies at Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University where he graduated medical school in 1991.  He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Cooper Hospital in 1995.  

A skilled and well-respected Wills Eye Hospital surgeon, Dr. Bruce Markovitz, M.D. is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and practices general ophthalmology with a special interest in cataract surgery and ophthalmic medical procedures.  With over thirty years of experience, Dr. Markovitz has been practicing with Lafayette Eye Associates for nearly three decades performing cataract surgeries and providing the latest treatments for eye disease and state of the art on-site laser surgery for glaucoma, diabetes and after cataract surgery.  

Dr. Markovitz also teaches at Wills Eye Hospital where he is a two-time award winner of the prestigious Wills Eye Golden Apple Teacher of the Year award. Board certified in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, he has published several ophthalmologic articles and has contributed to multiple chapters in ophthalmic books, including the Wills Eye Manual.  He is a member of the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Association of Researchers in Vision and Ophthalmology.  

Dr. Markovitz and his wife Robin live in Blue Bell and have 2 terrific children who are both physicians. Dr. Markovitz is a pilot, enjoys skiing, staying active and spending time with family.
